Legislative Internship

Grounded in nimble and collaborative campaigns in New York State, and based in Albany, our work has been at the heart of nation-leading and market-shifting restrictions on chemicals that threaten our health and planet.
POSITION SUMMARY
This internship provides a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual to gain firsthand experience in the legislative process. The Legislative Intern will work closely with Clean+Healthy staff to support the legislative agenda and constituent services. This internship will involve a variety of tasks, including lobbying support, administrative tasks, office and event support. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in public policy and a desire to make a positive impact on their community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide both general support and support for lobby days.
Prepare legislative materials to include memo creation/revision, printing/copying and packet creation.
Distribute memos of support in the Capitol.
Perform data entry and database maintenance.
Prepare and send out donor mailings.
Track the status and support for key legislation.
Make updates to the organization’s website to maintain current program information.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Interest in social justice, policy reform and regulation of toxic chemicals.
Proficiency in Google Workspace.
Technologically savvy.
This is a part-time position for 10-15 hours a week during office hours. It will mostly be in office, but may also be hybrid at times. Candidates must have their own laptop to use. Pay is $15.50/hr. This position starts in January and runs through June.
